Unconventional Tattly #4

A few weeks ago I submitted an idea to Tattly. What’s tattly you ask? Fun, temporary tattoos made by designers. Back when I was a waitress, and when we had nothing to do I would take the temporary tattoos from the machine and make it stick to the cardboard on the back of my writing pad.

I was reminded of this when I first heard of tattly. So I went ahead and bought myself one of those Moleskin Cahier Notebooks. And had a party with it.

Some tips when applying to cardboard:
- It might be sticky to the touch for a little while, just let dry.
- It might crack and weather over time but to me that’s what makes temporary tattoos awesome!

Amazing Artist – Jayson Lilley

You may recognize the artist name… or even this painting. I wrote an entry about Mr. Lilley last year. I truly loved his work… contrast just draws me in… and hooks me! [I'm actually convinced I'm addicted to high contrast, if that's possible] Anyway, I had asked him if I were able to purchase one of his paintings. I hadn’t heard from him for a while and the next thing I knew he asked for my address. What!? I am still shocked but super excited. He sent me one of his paintings… the same one I was in love with last year. His “Moo Cow” – Red Devon.

His work is amazing but it is even better in person. I’ve never seen red so perfect before in my life. I have an “art wall” in my apartment and I plan to hang it there next to my tree painting. I’ll post more pictures later on but I wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU to Jayson!

Yes, I’m a font snob

I was searching the other day, trying to figure out how I could get Helvetica on my Windows computer at work. Of course only you can understand if you are a “font snob” yourself, how very different Arial and Helvetica are. But, that’s besides my point. I came across some funny things as I was searching.

This shirt being one of them:

Then I saw this:

I also read this blog post which I thought was hysterical. What if Windows 7 came bundled with Movie Stars? You will have to see for yourself.

TV and Movie Graphics

This video was pointed out to me by my Uncle – he emailed it to me thinking I might enjoy it. He was right! We are far from our clearly-animated but still very awesome 80′s movies. It is very hard to tell what is real and what is fake anymore! This is a video showing how scenes from the TV show Boardwalk Empire. It’s incredible how much of each scene is created by computer graphics.

Art and Music

Quote

“I wouldn’t ever sit and explain to someone why I love this artist or that musician unless I was asked. So I don’t know why people feel the need to tell me how or why they dislike a certain artist or musician – especially after my mentioning of how I enjoy them.” – Me
