Nars Audacious Lipstick Swatches

Beauty

Last year when I was wedding-planning-my-life-away I knew I needed to find the perfect shade of lipstick for the big day.  I wanted a soft pink and something light that was not too heavy or messy on my lips.  All I could think about was accidentally getting it on my dress!  Ahh!  Finally, there was this super helpful MUA in Sephora and she had me try Nars Audacious lipstick.  It was a little more expensive ($32 at Sephora.com) than others but I was willing to splurge on the perfect color for the big day.  I tried the color “Anna” and immediately fell in love.  It was the perfect shade of pink – a “Smokey Rose” to be exact. I have light eyes and light brown hair BUT my skin tone is olive and I tan very easily.  So although I may seem very pale I’m actually not — and some light pink lipsticks just look ridiculous on me! Nars Audacious in Anna was the perfect shade! It also went on smooth but it was not too heavy or sticky so it did not take me long to make a decision to buy it.

Can I also say that I love the packaging of this lipstick, it is very well designed and thought out.  I really appreciate things like that because the entire experience with the lipstick has been thought about — not just the experience of wearing it.  The top has a magnet and it stays closed VERY well – now I didn’t have to worry about it making a mess in my purse.  Each of them (I now have 4) also seem to “magnetize” together when I have them in my organizer.  I realize that Nars didn’t invent this idea but the fact that I know they thought this through makes me feel it is worth the price.  (I will say though I bought most of them with a Sephora coupon, hehe).  The packaging is a metal and it stays cool.. keeping the lipstick from melting.

Since then I’ve purchased 3 more colors – they are all female names – Fanny, Greta and Jane.  Fanny is a “Rich Berry” a fun color – I feel like its low key enough to wear to work but fun enough to wear out. The swatch on Sephora.com I feel is too dark for this color – it is a shade or two brighter than that.  It seems like it would be a very dark color but it is not.  Greta is a bright warm pink described as “wild azalea” I probably wouldn’t wear this to work because it feel like more of a party color!  Jane is a nice sort-of-nude color “terracota rose” that is fun to wear and you can dress it up or down depending on the rest of your makeup. It is warmer than Anna and less pink which is why I picked it.  It’s another great color I feel I can wear to work. I love ALL these colors!  If I had to pick 1 color though it would be Greta because I am personally obsessed with bright pink lips. Haha!  Take a look at the Nars Audacious Lipstick Swatches I’ve created and let me know in the comments what color you like best.  If you have tried other colors from this line let me know how you feel about them.  I will be posting more pictures of me wearing each color soon!
