Methane Studios & DMB

Design/ www

This year I attended quite a few Dave Matthews Band shows (I’m a long time fan). I was so tempted to purchase some of the posters they had at each show. The designs were so awesome, and unique for each individual concert. I thought to myself “Now that’s an awesome job, designing posters for DMB!”. I came to find that they are designed by Methane Studios. They have a very unique style and I can’t stop staring. I just want to absorb every last bit of every design. This is a site all artists should check out and even if you aren’t artsy you will enjoy viewing their portfolio. Here are some DMB examples (these are just SOME of my favorites). To view more of these check out their DMB portfolio.

wedding photo collage

Photo

This September I attended my friends’ wedding. Sad they are leaving to move to Boston, I decide to make a collage for them of photos I took at their wedding. It was a beautiful September day and I took well over 100 photos. The last photo is a part of their table where they sat during the reception. Was set up with all the bridesmaids’ flower bouquets and some candles.

Design

Fall has always been my favorite season, although flip flops and sunshine is so much fun in the summer, I’ve always felt fall is the more creative season. With the leaves changing colors, and the sun setting earlier, bundling up in layers and wearing Uggs! But even lately more and more I’ve loved to just even look at trees and leaves. Trees, even without leaves are awesome. The way the branches flow out each in their own individual way. Leaves each have their own unique patterns too, and seeing them up close is even more amazing. One rainy day in the car there were a few leaves stuck to the passenger window while driving (my mom was driving, I do not photograph and drive!). I usually always have my Canon PowerShot handy in my bag, I decided to snap some shots. I took quite a few pictures and even my mom noted how much I was entertaining myself just by taking photos of a leaf stuck to the window. From that I decided to create some wallpapers. I edited the original 4 separate times, using 4 filters. So simple yet each photo now has a different mood and feel to it. Of course if you are a fellow designer you probably are familiar with these filters, but I figured I’d share with everyone. You can download and use all these wallpapers here.

Jail Bird LiLo and Stickers

Rambling

I always try to be creative for Halloween, rather than just getting a store-bought costume. I had such a hard time thinking of something I really desired to be. My friend John had suggested I be LiLo in a jail outfit. After searching and searching for a costume/idea I figured John’s idea is after all funny and creative. I use my handy photoshop skills (which wasn’t much) to create a fake sign that they hold up for a mugshot, and had it around my neck. Printed it and laminated it, punched 2 holes and bam! I was jail bird Lindsay Lohan. I went to a party at this bar/restaurant nearby, I got a lot of laughs for this costume! Everyone was like “wow what I good idea”. I also put powder on my feet… do you remember when LiLo put powder on her feet? She really was an awesome actress to see on screen… it makes me sad to see her go down hill SERIOUSLY. It bothers me when people with talent deep down just throw it all away.. and for what? Some tabloid attention and a quick high? Lame. Well, anyway back to reality! I wanted to thank Angie for my little gifts she sent me. She was having a poetry contest over at her site and I ended up being the only one to enter. But she sent me some stickers and fun jewelry! I swear she must be psychic, not only am I a sticker freak, but I love skulls. So the hot pink bead bracelet with a skull charm was just the icing on the cake. Thank you Angie 😀 I hope she will decide to have another poetry contest again someday, because I will definitely enter it.

vote for my poem

www

[edit] I received an email from Angie and she told me I was the only one who entered the contest 🙁 So now the contest cannot go on. *Sigh* Hopefully next time! [/edit]

Voting for the poetry contest on AngieGoBoom.com starts today! I have entered a poem, so if you would be so kind to check it out and vote for me that would be great. But only if you feel my poem deserves it 🙂 I’ve decided not to share my poem here, only because it’s a pretty personal poem of mine so if you do want to read it you will have to check it out @ that site =]

Infinite Possibilities

Design

And now for a post outside the design world, but I have to share! At the end of September Mike Dooley [writer] was holding a contest on facebook/twitter. I was one of the winners, and I got his book Infinite Possibilities newly in paperback autographed and sent to me. I was and I still am very excited. I just received my book about a week ago, and although I have not started reading I am very excited to. (I’m still in the middle of another book). Mr. Dooley was also one of the writers from The Secret and also has his own line of books, dvds and even a fun website. I wake up to a “note from the universe” every day, thanks to him. Definitely worth checking out, and if you enjoy learning about the law of attraction like I do, his books are not only informing but he makes it fun. WOOHOO! 🙂

“Room Service? Hi. It’s me again, Christie. That’s right, in the Penthouse Suite. If you wouldn’t mind, could we please have another round of desserts, some more wood on the fire, and, uh, some new springs for the trampoline?” – Notes from the Universe

Frankenstein and Wax

Design

From my collection of old Horror Movie Posters I re-created, I made some wallpapers to share in celebration of Halloween. Both have a grungey worn style, which was consistent with all the posters I did. I truly enjoyed that project, and rather than just have it sit in a file folder on my mac, I figured I’d share! A Frankenstein wallpaper and The Mystery of the Wax Museum wallpaper. Feel free to download and use as you like, but please give credit. Although I still don’t know what I’m going to be for Halloween, hopefully these can inspire you in some way. Please let me know your thoughts on these 🙂 Still have many more horror posts to come…
