Print Postcards

Sponsor

Depending on who you know it might be easy to find someone to design a simple postcard but when it comes to finding a place to print postcards it can be tough. I had quoted a few local places in my town but it became too much. Printing costs can be insane if you don’t know where to look. The best place to print postcards price-wise is online. Most places will let you upload a file with your own design (don’t forget the margins!). Some have their own online design tool which is great – if you’re not a designer. For me it seems limited compared to what I can do with photoshop but for someone who just needs something simple and has a good sense of grammar the online design tools are great.

design your own stickers

Design/ Sponsor/ www

Back when I was in middle school/high school I had a huge sticker collection. I’m not really sure what made me want to collect them (probably the lack of internet in my life at the time LOL). But I had a ton, and now that I’m a full time designer I love the fact that I can create basically anything I want and have it printed. I’ve been searching for a company that does sticker printing. Print Runner offers many options on sticker printing but the thing I am super excited about is the fact that they offer them in a roll! Not just sheets of stickers.

Now my only issue is deciding what to put on the stickers. Designing for someone else – that’s easy. Designing for me? It will be the design that never ends! Any suggestions on what I should print on stickers?

Instagram on Canvas

Photo/ www

It’s only been a few weeks since Instagram was FINALLY released on Android and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. During this time I’ve come across some really amazing products that work with Instagram. It’s interesting to see how 1 person had an idea to make this app and now it has snowballed into so many awesome things! What can I say? I’m a sucker for old photos.

Unconventional Tattly #4

Design/ www

A few weeks ago I submitted an idea to Tattly. What’s tattly you ask? Fun, temporary tattoos made by designers. Back when I was a waitress, and when we had nothing to do I would take the temporary tattoos from the machine and make it stick to the cardboard on the back of my writing pad.

I was reminded of this when I first heard of tattly. So I went ahead and bought myself one of those Moleskin Cahier Notebooks. And had a party with it.

Some tips when applying to cardboard:
– It might be sticky to the touch for a little while, just let dry.
– It might crack and weather over time but to me that’s what makes temporary tattoos awesome!

Amazing Artist – Jayson Lilley

Art/ www

You may recognize the artist name… or even this painting. I wrote an entry about Mr. Lilley last year. I truly loved his work… contrast just draws me in… and hooks me! [I’m actually convinced I’m addicted to high contrast, if that’s possible] Anyway, I had asked him if I were able to purchase one of his paintings. I hadn’t heard from him for a while and the next thing I knew he asked for my address. What!? I am still shocked but super excited. He sent me one of his paintings… the same one I was in love with last year. His “Moo Cow” – Red Devon.

His work is amazing but it is even better in person. I’ve never seen red so perfect before in my life. I have an “art wall” in my apartment and I plan to hang it there next to my tree painting. I’ll post more pictures later on but I wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU to Jayson!

Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you

Make sure you follow him on twitter and tell him how awesome he is! – @iamjaysonlilley

Yes, I’m a font snob

Design

I was searching the other day, trying to figure out how I could get Helvetica on my Windows computer at work. Of course only you can understand if you are a “font snob” yourself, how very different Arial and Helvetica are. But, that’s besides my point. I came across some funny things as I was searching.

This shirt being one of them:

Then I saw this:

I also read this blog post which I thought was hysterical. What if Windows 7 came bundled with Movie Stars? You will have to see for yourself.
