roy lichtenstein photoshop brushes

Design/ Technology

Today I added a set of model brushes and Roy Lichtenstein brushes for photoshop in the goodies section. They work in CS4 but I can’t confirm higher versions – you can give it a try! Looking to make more brushes and scans soon. The weather here in NY is horrible this weekend… and I’m very disappointed because I was looking forward to this halloween weekend!

vintage photo and graphic

Design/ Photo

On my vintage store adventure over the weekend I came across this vintage photo with a beautiful graphic on the back. The image is actually glued to the card. I was told this is early 1900s but no exact date really. I fell in love with the graphic, it’s gorgeous! I will be featuring this in my vintage image scans.. soon.

google web fonts

Design/ www

I recently discovered this from Google with it’s fairly new interface. In sites I’ve design we’ve used “cufรณn” for typefaces we wanted to have as actual text and not an image. it’s use through javascript and can slow down the site’s load time depending on how much you use. But Google has these fonts on their servers and it can link off there. The tutorial to add the fonts to your site seems pretty simple and now I am wondering if there is a wordpress plug-in for this. Google currently has 271 fonts and they seem to be growing because last time I checked the site was in the 250s. I love the idea that we are having more and more ways to be unlimited in our designs. Who says header tags always have to be Helvetica or Georgia? No fun. Not for me!

reversible doormat

Design

I love the idea of this mat… it’s reversible! Design that can be seen either way boggles my mind a bit because I wouldn’t even know how to make it happen. But this made me laugh and I found it here.

some wicked artwork

Art/ Design

Happy October!! A few weeks ago I saw Wicked on Broadway – with my mom. I also saw it around when it first came out back in 2004 but I really wanted to take my mom to see it. It really is such an amazing show especially if you are a fan of the Wizard of Oz. I think anyone who sees it loves it and I noticed on deviant art there was so much artwork! I figured to kick off the fun/costume/horror season why not start October with some Wicked artwork? Each picture links to the artist’s page. Thank you to those artist who let me feature them on my blog!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Target’s New Site Design

Design/ www

I really wish I had a screen shot of how it used to look… but from what I remember looking at items at Target.com was chaotic. Everything seemed to be a little congested on the site, now it seems wide open and clean. I love LOVE that they do not have “target” anywhere near the logo. That to me is a good change, who says we have to use words to know what it represents? I think its definitely a great idea and only so many logos can pull that off – at least in my opinion. Less Is More. This is one of those times. Although some may not agree – because the backend of it still needs work. As far as design is concerned – I love it! I think the 3D shopping cart is great too – made me smile. ๐Ÿ™‚
